Hola everyone,
This week has been pretty
interesting. My back pain came back and I have to go back to the
hospital again to get it fixed. I hope this time it fixes the disk for
good. Not very fun. Transfers are this Wednesday and sister Baird is
leaving which means I am getting a new companion. We went to a members
house this week to teach an FHE and afterwards sister Baird could not
find the car keys for half an hour and we didn't get home until super
late. We visited a less active family who the missionaries have been
working with for a long time and we talked to them about going back to
the temple and getting worthy again. We talked about what would be
holding them back and she brought up a lot of concerns she had and we
were able to address them all and now they are getting ready to go back
to the temple after 20 years.
The Allens son Brackon got baptized on
Saturday and on sunday they blessed their newborn baby Paxton. I
seriously love this family. They are so amazing and are going to be
moving to Utah/ Idaho. So I will get to go see them quite a bit after
the mission. I spoke in sacrament this sunday and spoke on the Atonement
and Missionary work and how the Lord helps lift us up and expects in
return for us to turn to others and help them up. One of the less
actives came up to me afterwards and said that the talk was just what he
needed to hear and now he is meeting with the missionaries again.
The last and most exciting thing that happened this
week is we met Christina. On tuesday we felt impressed to finish the ward
missionary binders and get them to the ward missionaries that night at
the meeting. Later that night we were at ward correlation meeting when
this lady comes into the church in tears. Her car had been having
problems and died just as she pulled into the church parking lot.
Normally the church is locked but it just so happened that as we were
going into ward correlation meeting we felt impressed to leave the
church door unlocked after we went inside so we followed the prompting
and left the door unlocked. When she came in we all stopped our meeting
and went out to help her. It just so happened they couldn't get her car
to start so they were going to take her to a hotel where she could stay
until her car got fixed. It just so happened right as they were about to
leave one of the ward missionaries pulled into the parking lot and
offered Christina a place to stay for the night.
We went over after our
meeting and took over the ward missionary binder to sister Hughes and
got a chance to talk to Christina about the gospel. We gave her a book
of mormon and she told us about part of her life story and was in tears
as we were talking to her about the atonement and how it can help her.
Everything that night was not a coincidence and even Christina noticed
it was not a coincidence that her car stalled and died as soon as she
pulled into the parking lot, it was not a coincidence we left the door
unlocked, it was not a coincidence that we were all at our meeting right
then and started on time, it was not a coincidence that sister Hughes
pulled up and offered Christina a place to stay, it is not a
coincidence that we had the ward missionary binders to give out so we
could go visit Christina at sister Hughes (not that we needed a reason
to stop by and teach Christina) and it is not a coincidence all these
things led Christina to the church, a ward missionary who has been
through her same situation, and the missionaries who were able to give
her a book of mormon and testify that although she has a very sketchy
past and has been hurt by a lot of people there is still hope for her.
I love this gospel and I am so grateful that we got to share it with
Christina.
Te amo,
