Monday was awesome. A member read
our palms and it was pretty interesting how dead on she was but fortunately I
know I can get more revelation from God than my handprint. We went and taught
Marie and her dog Love just had puppies so we got to see them and it was sooo
fun to hold them especially since we can't hold human babies for 18 months. We
went to have dinner and had some very interesting hot dogs... we got sick from
them. We went to ward correlation meeting afterwards and brother Allen is
stepping in as our temporary ward mission leader until he moves.
Wednesday we went to zone meeting where they were telling us a bit about the Book of Mormon musical coming to Memphis and how our zone conference this Wednesday is gonna be about preparing for the musical... it's a pretty big deal here especially when L. Tom Perry was talking to us about it back in January. Can't wait for Wednesday we get to find out who will be part of this Book of Mormon dream team in the areas around Memphis.
We went on exchanges with the sister training leaders I went to Bartlett and we went tracting and I felt prompted to to knock on this door and turns out it was a less active they had been looking for and I just happened to pick his house. I know that isn't a coincidence. We went to go visit another of their investigators and there were 2 cop cars outside and the lady comes out and tells us its a bad time because her son was being arrested... not gonna lie I kinda laughed when we got in the car.
Thursday began our 3 day wild weather adventure. It was pouring rain!!!! The streets were flooding. We got banned to our apartment for a bit and watched the craziest lightning storm I have ever seen in my life. When the rain stopped we went out and taught Nora. This 7 year old kid runs from his house over to her front lawn and pulls down his pants and starts peeing on her front lawn while we are sitting on her front porch. She yells, "Hey kid, what are you doing??" He responds by saying, "I gotta use it." She yelled at him and told him to go behind his house. Ha ha it was the funniest thing.
Friday we went out teaching with sister Womack and we were driving to an investigators house and me and Hermana Mitchell both felt impressed to stop at this other ladies house instead. Her husband had passed away not too long ago and Sister Womack's father also passed away and she was the perfect person to talk to this lady. After that the rain started really coming down and we got banned to our apartment again.
Saturday we went out teaching with Sister White and around 5 pm all of a sudden the tornado sirens start going off and we knew it wasn't a drill. The sirens didn't go off for about 20 minutes then We went back to our apartment and when the skies got clear again we went back out teach. We hadn't eaten dinner yet and stopped to drop something off for the elders at the church. The other elders in our district told us a bad storm is heading our way and we needed to get home now because it was supposed to be worse in Jackson.
At about 7 pm we were heading home and it seriously felt like we were in a hurricane... about a foot of rain on the ground, very strong winds, and then the sky turned green and the power was going out. I'm not gonna lie I was pretty scared. We couldn't drive in that weather... the roads were flooded and we had to get somewhere safe. Home was 2 miles away but we couldn't make it that far... I prayed in my head and we felt we needed to go to the church. We got to the church and Brother Allen called us and told us to look outside and we saw the green sky. He told us to get into the baptismal font... it's the safest spot in the church. Fortunately it was unlocked... It never is unlocked. We waited for about an hour in the meantime the other elders in our district told us there was a tornado in Milan which is not too far from Jackson and it had just missed them. We didn't actually see a tornado fortunately but it was pretty scary.
Moral of the story always follow the spirit and be worth to have the spirit.
